Looking for a special way to give back to the women who shaped your life this Mother’s Day? Regular check-ins may be the greatest gift of all.
Particularly for aging moms, aunts and grandmothers we may not see often enough, the holiday presents an opportunity to begin checking in more regularly and offering ways to support their well-being year-round. Laura Hall, a nurse practitioner who specializes in geriatric medicine, can affirm regular check-ins are important for early detection of health issues.
“It can be emotionally difficult when we start to see a decline in the older women in our lives, but it is a critical time to become involved in their care,” said Hall, who serves as the associate clinical director at Care Resources. “With regular check-ins and follow-ups, you might notice medical concerns or cognition changes before your loved ones spot an issue themselves. This Mother’s Day can serve as a chance to reconnect with loved ones and continue to be there to support them as they journey through these changes.”
